Job summary

The City of New York Law Department’s Litigation Support Division seeks an attorney to assist in obtaining discovery from City agencies. The role includes supervising discovery staff, learning IT systems for collecting electronically stored information, and collaborating with agency personnel to map information flows.

Candidates must have a J.D. from an ABA-accredited school, be admitted to the NYS Bar, and possess at least three years of litigation and discovery experience.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and be admitted in good standing with the NY State Bar.
• 3+ years of litigation and discovery experience required.
• Strong organizational, oral communication, and writing skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Interact with Assistant Corporation Counsels and staff to assist with discovery from City agencies.
• Assist in supervising Litigation Support staff in paper and electronic discovery.
• Learn IT systems used by the Law Department and other agencies to aid in collecting electronically stored information.
• Learn operational processes of other City agencies and their records.
• Work under the supervision of division management.
