Job summary

Manulife/John Hancock seeks a Life Underwriting Auditor to conduct post-issue audits of underwriting initiatives, assess accuracy, and provide actionable insights to align with pricing, mortality assumptions, and regulatory requirements. This remote role is open to any location in continental US.

You'll partner with Underwriting Management, Risk, Training, and Innovation teams to develop CAPs, test new tools and rules engines, and advance the Underwriting Risk Control Framework.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in life insurance underwriting with expertise in medical and financial underwriting.
• Strong understanding of life insurance products, guidelines, and risk selection principles.
• Ability to interpret complex medical and financial information and assess risk.
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and root-cose analysis.
• Strong written and verbal communication to present findings to underwriters and leadership.
• High professionalism, integrity, and discretion when handling sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Audit underwriting initiatives for technical accuracy and guideline adherence.
• Review medical, financial, and operational risk in underwriting decisions.
• Prepare reports with findings and actionable recommendations for management.
• Collaborate with Underwriting Management and Risk to develop CAPs and monitor remediation.
• Support enhancement of the Underwriting Risk Control Framework, including KRIs and governance standards.
• Translate audit findings into targeted training and guideline clarifications.
• Evaluate impact of new tools, rules engines, and GenAI on underwriting quality.
• Design and execute targeted audits for Underwriting Innovation initiatives.
• Ensure audit documentation is complete for internal audits and regulatory review.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of audit frameworks, metrics, and reporting.
