Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to expand the U.S. presence from California. This agency-side role focuses on building relationships with pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients, engaging senior stakeholders in Medical Affairs and Medical Information, and converting opportunities into long-term partnerships.

The position is California-based remote with field activity and travel across the U.S. and Europe.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in business development within medical communications, healthcare communications, life sciences, or related agency environment.
• Proven ability to develop new business with pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology companies.
• Experience engaging senior stakeholders in Medical Affairs and Medical Information.
• Ability to travel within California and the U.S. as required.
• Experience representing an organization at industry conferences, congresses, and events.
• Strong consultative selling and value-based communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute business development strategies to acquire new pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients.
• Identify target companies and senior decision-makers within prospective client organizations.
• Build relationships with Heads, Vice Presidents, Directors, and other senior stakeholders in Medical Affairs/Medical Information.
• Generate and develop qualified new business opportunities across life sciences sectors.
• Lead the BD process from prospecting to proposals, negotiation and closing.
• Maintain a qualified BD pipeline and travel for in-person meetings as needed.
