Job summary

Kin is hiring an Underwriting Services Associate to own risk work across the policy lifecycle, from initial review through renewal. You’ll review risk, adjudicate findings, and coordinate with customers and Underwriting to keep policies moving efficiently.

This licensed, hands-on role requires a Property & Casualty license and experience in underwriting or policy servicing for home insurance. Join a remote-first team delivering clear, empathetic service to homeowners across many states.

Qualifications

• Active Property & Casualty (P&C) license is required.
• Direct underwriting or policy-servicing experience in home insurance is preferred.
• Working knowledge of property risk review, inspections, and pre-bind requirements.
• Strong written communication for customer-facing and cross-functional use.
• Ability to navigate multiple systems in a fast-moving environment; willing to escalate when needed.
• Bonus: experience with Kin's underwriting queues, inspections, or RBR workflows.

Responsibilities

• Conduct risk reviews across the policy lifecycle using Kin's rulesets.
• Review and adjudicate inspection findings and Coverage A valuations.
• Own the risk file end to end pre-bind, during service, and at renewal; gather docs and resolve items.
• Field calls from Customer Service about underwriting results, requirements, and coverage.
• Partner with Sales on referred cases to keep policies moving to bind.
• Manage post-bind and renewal underwriting requirements, including inspections follow-ups.
• Complete RBR document gathering and manage escalation of complex inquiries.
• Process premium-bearing policy actions in compliance with state rules.
• Communicate underwriting outcomes to customers and partner teams clearly.
• Identify patterns and gaps to improve rules and reduce manual review over time.
