Job summary

Cherry Bekaert LLP is seeking an experienced Legal Billing / Collections Specialist to manage client billing, collections, and accounts receivable in a remote setup serving clients in the Washington DC metro area. You will work with attorneys and accounting teams to ensure accurate invoicing and timely collections.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of billing/collections experience in a law firm or legal services environment, with strong Excel skills and familiarity with major billing platforms.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in billing, collections, or accounts receivable, preferably in a law firm or legal services environment.
• Hands-on experience with high-volume or complex client billing.
• Strong understanding of accounts receivable and collections processes.
• Experience working directly with attorneys and/or professional-services clients.
• Strong Excel skills and comfort with financial and billing systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, edit, and finalize client invoices in accordance with attorney and client billing requirements.
• Manage assigned accounts receivable and proactively follow up on outstanding balances.
• Communicate professionally with clients regarding invoices, payment status, discrepancies, and past-due accounts.
• Work closely with attorneys and internal teams to resolve billing and collection issues.
• Review accounts for aging balances and identify items requiring follow-up.
• Process billing adjustments, write-offs, transfers, and corrections as appropriate.
• Reconcile client accounts and research payment or billing discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate billing and collection records.
• Assist with month-end billing and accounts receivable activities.
• Follow client-specific billing guidelines and internal financial procedures.
