Job summary

MeshGrid HR is seeking an experienced Lead Protection & Control Engineer to support complex transmission and distribution projects, including HV/EHV substations, HVDC, FACTS, BESS, data centers, and industrial power systems. The role leads protection and control engineering from concept through design, testing, commissioning, and project closeout, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable protection, automation, and control solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 7+ years of electrical engineering experience, with 5+ years in protection and control.
• Experience developing complete P&C design packages for utility or industrial power applications.
• Ability to coordinate engineering activities across multidisciplinary project teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of protection and control systems for HV/EHV substations and other critical power infrastructure.
• Develop and review: Single-line and three-line diagrams; AC and DC schematics; protection logic and relay settings.
• Define protection philosophies and schemes for transformers, buses, feeders, reactors, capacitor banks, and other substation equipment.
• Coordinate P&C requirements with SCADA, telecom, cybersecurity, physical design, and other engineering disciplines.
• Lead or support Factory Acceptance Testing, site testing, commissioning, and system troubleshooting.
• Develop outage, cutover, testing, and commissioning procedures.
• Provide technical guidance to customers, field teams, and end users on protection and control systems.
• Support proposals by reviewing specifications, estimating engineering effort, evaluating vendor quotations, and developing technical clarifications.
• Lead technical issue resolution, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and engineering quality improvements.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and designers on assigned projects.
