Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a Lead Protection & Control Engineer to define and design protection schemes for T&D substations, data centers, and BESS applications. You will lead a local or remote design team and coordinate panel layouts, wiring, and interconnections, ensuring integrated protection with SCADA, cybersecurity, and telecom requirements.

You will oversee complex relay coordination, perform studies, and guide end-user training while integrating with other engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in engineering.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in protection and controls engineering for substations or power generation.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of the time, including international, for meetings and on-site commissioning tests for customer installations and comply with all relevant company travel and tax policies

Responsibilities

• Design protection schemes for T&D substations, Data Centers, Industrial, BESS applications including one-lines and relay settings.
• Lead a local or remote design team for panels, interconnect wiring, layouts and elevations.
• Evaluate interoperability and SCADA integration for protection relays with Cyber Security and Telecom needs.
• Coordinate with SCADA, substation, and control design staff to develop system integration of protection, control, and monitoring systems.
• Review power system studies and relay coordination performed by other agencies.
• Train end-users on theory and operation of integrated protection and control systems.
• Lead or support factory acceptance testing and site testing and commissioning.
