Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a Lead Protection & Control Engineer to work on T&D substations, data centers, and industrial/BESS projects. You will define and oversee protection schemes, coordinate wiring, and ensure seamless integration with SCADA, cyber security, and telecom systems.

The role requires a strong background in protection and controls engineering, IEC 61850 concepts, and the ability to travel up to 20% for on-site commissioning and international meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in engineering.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in protection and controls engineering for substations or power generation.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of the time, including international.

Responsibilities

• Design protection schemes for T&D substations, data centers, industrial, and BESS applications.
• Lead a design team to develop panel wiring, layouts, and elevations.
• Evaluate interoperability and communication aspects of IEDs for integrated solutions.
• Coordinate with SCADA, cyber security, and telecom needs for system integration.
• Interface with engineers, designers, project managers, and sourcing teams.
• Review load flow, fault studies, relay coordination, and transient studies.
• Train end-users on theory and operation of integrated protection and control systems.
• Lead or support factory acceptance testing, site testing, and commissioning.
