Job summary

Leidos seeks a Lead Substation Protection & Controls Engineer to own complex P&C designs across 12-500 kV systems, applying advanced digital logic and AC/DC circuit expertise to engineer solutions that protect the modern grid and enable renewable integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with 8+ years in substation protection and control design.
• Experience leading and executing substation protection and control projects.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities for client and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support substation protection and control design projects with on-time delivery.
• Create relay one-line diagrams defining protection zones and topology.
• Develop AC schematics showing currents, voltages and protection relationships.
• Produce DC control/protection schematics for safe operation of equipment.
• Design control panels, wiring diagrams, and layouts for construction and maintainability.
• Build accurate BOMs aligned with project criteria and client requirements.
• Perform QC checks on wiring and schematics for accuracy and safety.
• Contribute from scoping through energization and commissioning activities.
• Provide installation, testing, and commissioning guidance to field teams.
