Job summary

Independence Pet Holdings is seeking a Lead Data Scientist with hands-on pricing experience in P&C or pet insurance to join the R&D team. You will own pricing model development, drive best practices, and serve as a subject‑matter expert in insurance pricing.

You will manage 2–4 concurrent pricing, research, and model enhancement initiatives, communicating complex results to both technical and non-technical audiences while collaborating with actuarial, product, and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Statistics/Mathematics/Data Science or related field; 2+ years in data science or 4+ years in analytics.
• At least 1 year of experience in P&C or Pet Insurance pricing (rate modeling, GLMs, segmentation).
• Strong Python/SQL skills for data manipulation, modeling, and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead pricing model development and maintain GLM-based pricing approaches.
• Apply machine learning to enhance predictive accuracy and insights.
• Serve as technical lead on pricing initiatives with methodological rigor and regulatory awareness.
• Own projects end-to-end, manage 2–4 active initiatives concurrently.
• Translate analytical findings into actionable insights for leadership.
