Job summary

Independence Pet Holdings is seeking a Lead Data Scientist with hands-on pricing experience in P&C or pet insurance to join our R&D team. This senior individual contributor role leads pricing model development, drives analytical best practices, and serves as a subject matter expert in insurance pricing.

You will own projects end-to-end across pricing, research, and model enhancement, balancing 2–4 concurrent initiatives while communicating complex modeling to both technical and non-technical

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in statistics, math, data science, actuarial science or related field.
• 2+ years in data science or analytics, plus 1 year in P&C or pet insurance pricing.
• Strong Python/SQL, GLMs, and statistical inference skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead pricing model development for GLM-based and regression approaches.
• Apply machine learning to improve predictive accuracy and insights.
• Serve as technical lead on pricing initiatives with regulatory awareness.
• Own end-to-end projects, 2–4 concurrent, from scoping to delivery.
• Translate analytics into actionable leadership insights.
