Job summary

Independence Pet Holdings seeks a Lead Data Scientist with hands-on pricing experience in P&C or Pet Insurance to join our R&D team. This senior individual contributor will own pricing model development, drive analytical best practices, and serve as an SME in insurance pricing.

You will manage end-to-end projects, balancing 2–4 active initiatives across pricing, research, and model enhancement, and partner with actuarial, product, engineering, and business stakeholders to shape our analytical

Qualifications

• Advanced degree or equivalent in quantitative field with 2+ years in data science or 4+ years analytics.
• At least 1 year of experience in P&C or Pet Insurance pricing (rate modeling, GLMs, segmentation).
• Strong Python and SQL skills for data manipulation, modeling, and analysis.
• Ability to translate complex modeling to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop, refine, and maintain GLM-based pricing models for rate setting and forecasting.
• Apply machine learning techniques to improve predictive accuracy and customer insights.
• Serve as technical lead on pricing initiatives with methodological rigor and regulatory awareness.
• Own end-to-end projects, balancing 2–4 initiatives across pricing, research, and model enhancement.
• Communicate results and recommendations to senior leadership; act as an SME.
