Job summary

Raft is seeking a Lead AI/ML Software Engineer to advance the [R]AIMS platform. You will shape architecture, lead cross-functional epics, and drive production-grade AI solutions with multi-vendor integrations.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with platform leadership, and engage with DoD stakeholders to demonstrate capabilities and credibility. Remote-US work options are available with top security requirements.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on experience shipping production software across full stack.
• Strong fundamentals and ability to design and evolve complex, scalable systems.
• Exceptional technical communication across engineering, product, and leadership.
• Proven distributed systems design including inter-service patterns and observability.
• Hands-on Kubernetes and cloud-native platform experience.
• Experience with data-intensive or AI-enabled production systems and real-time inference.
• Leadership on large cross-functional engineering initiatives with ownership.
• Ability to obtain Security+ and eligible for Top Secret/SCI clearance.
• Experience with streaming architectures like Kafka; internal dev tooling.

Responsibilities

• Drive architectural decisions across the [R]AIMS platform, aligning engineering and product teams.
• Lead major epics from conception through delivery with cross-functional coordination.
• Simplify distributed architecture as the platform scales for reliability and performance.
• Optimize performance across edge and cloud deployments in data-heavy environments.
• Establish reusable engineering patterns to boost productivity and code quality.
• Mentor engineers and provide design/code feedback to elevate execution.
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineers on model integration and deployment for production.
• Engage with DoD stakeholders to demonstrate Raft's capabilities and credibility.
