Raft, a U.S.-based defense tech company, seeks a Lead AI/ML Software Engineer to guide the [R]AIMS platform's architecture, scale, and reliability. You will own major epics, drive architectural decisions, and mentor engineers while collaborating with DoD customers to deliver mission-critical AI-enabled workflows.

You will work remotely within the U.S. and may travel up to 25% as needed, with a preference for candidates near Raft hubs.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on experience building and shipping production software systems across the full stack
• Strong fundamentals in designing reliable, scalable distributed systems
• Exceptional technical communication and influence without authority
• Experience designing distributed systems with service decomposition and observability
• Hands-on Kubernetes and cloud-native platform architecture in production
• Experience with data-intensive or AI-enabled production systems
• Proven technical leadership over large cross-functional initiatives
• Ability to obtain Security+ within 90 days; US citizenship and Top Secret/SCI clearance readiness

Responsabilités

• Drive architectural decisions across the [R]AIMS platform considering performance, scalability, security, and maintainability
• Lead major technical epics from conception to delivery with cross-functional teams
• Simplify distributed architecture as the platform scales while preserving capability
• Optimize platform performance across edge and cloud deployments
• Establish engineering foundations and reusable patterns for productivity
• Mentor engineers through design reviews and code feedback
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineers on model integration and deployment
• Engage DoD customers and stakeholders to credibly present Raft's capabilities
