Job summary

Raft is seeking a Lead AI/ML Software Engineer to shape the next phase of [R]AIMS, tackling architecture, deployment, and engineering rigor across the platform. You will be hands-on, setting direction while coding, mentoring, and leading major epics with cross-functional partners.

You will collaborate with platform leadership, drive scalable, Kubernetes-native infrastructure, and partner with AI/ML engineers on model integration and deployment in DoD programs.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building production software across full stack.
• Design and evolve complex distributed systems for scalability and reliability.
• Strong technical communication to lead without direct authority.
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native platform architecture.
• Familiarity with secure, compliant defense or government environments.
• Citizenship and eligibility for U.S. Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Drive platform architecture decisions for the [R]AIMS platform.
• Lead major epics from conception to delivery with cross-functional teams.
• Simplify distributed system complexity as the platform scales.
• Optimize performance in edge and cloud deployments.
• Establish reusable engineering patterns and improve developer productivity.
• Mentor engineers and provide code feedback across the team.
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineers on model integration and deployment.
• Engage with DoD customers and stakeholders to present technical capabilities.
