Raft is seeking a Staff Engineer for [R]AIMS who will shape architecture and guide engineering rigor. You will lead major epics, work hands-on in code, and set patterns across distributed systems and AI-enabled platforms.

You’ll partner with platform leadership, product, and delivery, addressing DoD customer needs with technical credibility. You will ensure scalable, high-quality software while mentoring engineers and driving pragmatic tradeoffs in a fast-paced, security-conscious environment.

Formación

• 6+ years building and shipping production software across full stack.
• Strong fundamentals to design and evolve complex, reliable systems.
• Exceptional technical communication to lead through influence.
• Experience with distributed systems, service decomposition and observability.
• Hands-on Kubernetes and cloud-native platform architecture in production.
• Experience with data-intensive or AI-enabled production systems.
• Proven technical leadership over large cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong system design with decision-making under uncertainty.
• Some exposure to training/ deployment of ML models in production.
• Ability to obtain Security+ within 90 days; US citizenship and TS/SCI clearance.

Responsabilidades

• Drive architectural decisions across the [R]AIMS platform, balancing performance, scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Lead major technical epics from conception through delivery with clear plans.
• Simplify distributed system architecture as the platform scales while maintaining capability.
• Optimize platform performance across edge and cloud deployments; resolve bottlenecks.
• Establish engineering foundations and reusable patterns to improve productivity.
• Mentor engineers, conduct design reviews, and elevate technical execution.
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineers on model integration and deployment of agentic workflows.
• Engage with customers and DoD stakeholders, presenting Raft’s technical capabilities.
