Job summary

Taleo is seeking a Remote Joint Use Engineer to support a Texas-based client’s FTTH and Ethernet programs. You will ensure packages are accurate and complete, build the playbook for the team, and learn the processes before taking ownership.

You will not manage projects but will shadow the team initially and then lead the work in a long-term role, coordinating with Fielders, Drafters, and Engineers while maintaining site tracking and status updates.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in telecom joint use, make-ready, permitting, or OSP (3+ years preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret work prints, pole data, and OSP construction drawings.
• Highly organized with ability to track many packages and deadlines.
• Clear written and verbal communication; relay technical requirements to field/design staff and clients.
• Comfortable creating and editing KMZ files in Google Earth or similar GIS tools.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace.
• Available at least 5 hours per day between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
• Self-directed and quick to pick up new processes; works well in a close team.

Responsibilities

• Review submitted joint-use packages for accuracy and completeness; reconcile poles against B1s, denials, WPs, and KMZ files.
• Prepare work print markups for initial submissions and responses to denials.
• Create and update KMZ files to reflect current pole, route, and attachment data.
• Prepare and maintain make-ready (MR) sheets and change requests (CRs).
• Prepare pole loading analysis (PLA) packs and perform high-level checks before handoff to engineering.
• Clearly relay PLA, make-ready, and markup requirements to Fielders, Drafters, and Engineers.
• Prepare and route copper downsizing and removal permits.
• Keep SiteTracker and project tracking current with live status updates for accurate weekly reporting.
• Follow up with power utilities, CATV providers, and other attachers on package status/denials/outstanding items.
• Build and maintain process documentation, including flow charts and illustrated SOPs for markups, permits, and KMZ workflows.
• Flag potential NESC and utility-standard issues for engineering review.
