Job summary

Orbital Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Joint Use Designer for a remote role. The position supports JU and Make Ready design within the Utility Services Department, handling construction documents for electric distribution, fiber, and telecom facilities.

You will assist with make-ready design, project estimates, schedules, and field support, ensuring QA/QC and client satisfaction. Katapult and DDS experience are strongly preferred, with some travel possible.

Qualifications

• 3+ years fieldwork or construction environment experience.
• 0-2 years with an associate degree in engineering-related fields and interest in fieldwork/surveying.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering/related discipline preferred.
• Prior utility design or make-ready design experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction documents for overhead and underground electric, fiber optic, and telecom facilities.
• Prepare make-ready work for joint use projects.
• Assist in engineering cost estimates and schedules.
• Provide field support during construction.
• Adhere to QA/QC processes and review others’ work.
• Analyze equipment loading and ensure cost-effective, safe designs.
