Job summary

Emend Healthcare seeks a mid-level IT Systems Engineer to support and administer our distributed infrastructure. You will manage VMware, Windows, Linux, cloud resources, storage, and network components while providing end-user support across sites.

You will work under the senior IT resource, handling routine administration, incident response, and project execution. A strong generalist with scripting skills and HIPAA awareness fits well.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on systems administration / IT support in production environments.
• Windows Server, Active Directory and Group Policy administration; virtualization (VMware) experience.
• PowerShell scripting; batch scripting a plus.
• Experience with storage, backup and DR concepts; DNS/DHCP familiarity.
• Cloud exposure (Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS); depth in one is a plus.
• Networking with Cisco/Meraki/UniFi; ability to diagnose common hardware/OS issues.
• Broad generalist mindset; HIPAA knowledge for PHI safeguarding.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/IS or related field; certs accepted in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day administration, monitoring, and performance of VMware, Windows, Linux systems, cloud infra, storage and networks.
• Handle end-user support queue; assist with escalations and staff training across sites.
• Administer Windows Server, AD/GP, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune/SCCM; manage endpoints in virtualized environments.
• Perform OS administration, patching, security hardening, backups, storage management.
• Ensure DR capabilities; test recovery procedures regularly.
• Support clinical and business apps (KIPU EHR, 8x8, MS SQL Server).
• Maintain HIPAA-aligned security controls and runbooks; vendor management.
