Job summary

Amentum seeks an IT Category Buyer to lead supplier sourcing and relationship management within IT category groups. The role focuses on cost reduction, supplier consolidation, lead-time improvements, and ensuring critical material supply while aligning with program schedules.

You will manage RFQs, negotiations, supplier onboarding, and spend analysis. US citizenship is required, and the position is remote-telework, requiring residence in the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field.
• Five years of experience in subcontracts, procurement, supply chain or related field.
• CPM/AAPICS certifications are preferred.
• US Citizenship is required to apply.
• Remote-telework role; you must work and live within the US to apply.

Responsibilities

• Support procurement operations for assigned IT categories focused on cost reduction, supplier consolidation, lead-time reduction, and supplier quality improvement.
• Execute purchasing activities including RFQs, competitive bidding, supplier evaluation, and negotiations.
• Identify, qualify, and onboard new suppliers to support cost, quality, and service goals.
• Analyze spending data and market conditions to recommend sourcing strategies.
• Maintain accurate purchase orders, pricing, lead times, and contract terms in procurement systems.
• Develop strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure performance and compliance.
• Monitor supplier KPI’s and drive corrective actions as needed.
• Conduct periodic business reviews with suppliers and support improvement initiatives.
• Develop knowledge of market conditions affecting cost, lead time, and availability of products.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to achieve cost-savings targets.
• Support budgeting activities with accurate forecasting and spend analysis.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction through alternative sourcing or process improvements.
• Collaborate with IT, Finance, and other internal teams to ensure seamless material flow.
• Resolve purchasing-related issues, including delivery delays and invoice mismatches.
• Ensure continuity of supply of critical materials and mitigate risks.
