Job summary

Amentum is seeking an IT Category Buyer to lead supplier sourcing and relationship management across IT categories. This role emphasizes robust purchasing operations, negotiations, and risk mitigation to meet program schedules while ensuring supply continuity.

You must reside in the US and be a US citizen for this remote-telework position. Responsibilities include RFQs, supplier onboarding, KPI monitoring, and collaboration with IT and Finance to improve cost, quality, and delivery.

Qualifications

• Typically a bachelor’s degree with 5 years’ experience in procurement or related field, or a master’s degree with 3 years.
• CPM/AAPICS certifications are preferred.
• US Citizenship is required to apply.

Responsibilities

• Support procurement operations for assigned IT categories focused on cost reduction and supplier consolidation.

• Execute purchasing activities including RFQs, competitive bidding, supplier evaluation, and negotiations.
• Identify, qualify, and onboard new suppliers to support cost, quality, and service goals.
• Analyze spending data and market conditions to recommend sourcing strategies.
• Maintain accurate purchase orders, pricing, lead times, and contract terms in procurement systems.
• Develop strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure performance and compliance.
• Monitor supplier KPI’s and drive corrective actions as needed.
• Conduct periodic business reviews with suppliers and support improvement initiatives.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to achieve cost-savings targets.
• Support budgeting activities with accurate forecasting and spend analysis.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction through alternative sourcing or process improvements.
• Collaborate with IT, Finance, and other internal teams to ensure seamless material flow.
• Resolve purchasing-related issues, including delivery delays and invoice mismatches.
• Ensure continuity of supply of critical materials and mitigate risks.
