Job summary

Hands Up Communications is seeking an experienced Interpreter Recruiter & Liaison to grow and support our interpreter network across ASL and spoken languages, including high-demand languages. You will recruit new interpreters and serve as the main contact for existing interpreters, ensuring they feel supported and valued.

This role requires deep understanding of the language services industry, credentialing, and ongoing professional development, with a focus on remote coordination and community

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years in language services, either as a working interpreter or in interpreter recruitment, vendor management, language access coordination, or interpreter operations.
• In-depth knowledge of interpreting professions, including modes, delivery methods, ethics, and professional conduct.
• Familiarity with ASL and spoken-language certifications, assessments, and training requirements.
• Ability to assess interpreter qualifications and recognize red flags during screening.
• Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills with empathy and professionalism.
• Comfort working remotely with ATS, video platforms, databases, and standard office software.

Responsibilities

• Source ASL and spoken-language interpreter candidates through job boards, associations, training programs, universities, community organizations, and referrals.
• Build relationships within the Deaf community and ASL interpreter networks, including recruiting Certified Deaf Interpreters.
• Develop creative sourcing strategies for rare languages and outreach to diaspora communities.
• Screen candidates for language proficiency, interpreting skills, professional conduct, and ethics.
• Coordinate credential verifications and certifications (RID, BEI, state licensure, etc.).
• Manage full recruitment lifecycle from outreach to onboarding and offers.
• Maintain an organized candidate pipeline ahead of language demand.
• Serve as primary contact for current interpreters, addressing questions about assignments, pay, and policies.
• Track renewals, CEUs, and compliance documents to keep interpreters current.
• Communicate updates on policies and opportunities including ASL where appropriate.
