Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an Interim HR & People Operations Manager for an established nonprofit organization dedicated to creating meaningful social impact through its programs and initiatives. This fully remote, temporary opportunity offers the flexibility to work from home while supporting a collaborative, geographically distributed team.

Qualifications

• Experience managing payroll, benefits, onboarding, and offboarding for a distributed workforce.
• Knowledge of U.S. employment laws, multi-state compliance, and international teams is preferred.
• Proficiency with HR/payroll platforms (Gusto, Deel) and cloud tools (GSuite, Microsoft 365).

Responsibilities

• Independently manage daily HR functions including onboarding/offboarding, benefits, and leave tracking.
• Coordinate payroll processing and workforce administration for domestic and international employees and contractors.
• Maintain compliance with federal, multi-state, and international employment requirements.
• Oversee HR systems administration, employee access, and coordination with external vendors.
• Support leadership with meeting logistics, documentation, and reporting.
• Ensure continuity of HR and administrative processes during the staffing transition.
