Job summary

AKS Engineering & Forestry seeks an Interconnection & Transmission Regulatory Manager to lead interconnection strategy and regulatory engagement for utility-scale solar and BESS projects in Puerto Rico. The role requires Spanish/English fluency, extensive interconnection experience, and coordination with utilities and regulators.

You will manage studies, negotiations, and project reporting, while collaborating across development, engineering, and legal teams to keep projects moving forward.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in electric utility interconnection, transmission planning, power systems engineering, or energy regulatory affairs.
• Hands-on interconnection experience with utility-scale solar or BESS projects.
• Fluency in Spanish and English; ability to lead technical discussions with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead interconnection strategy across a portfolio of utility-scale solar and BESS projects, from applications to commissioning.
• Manage relationships with utilities (e.g., LUMA Energy, PREPA) and coordinate technical discussions.
• Review scoping, system impact, and facilities studies for technical accuracy and cost reasonableness.
• Coordinate transmission planning; assess constraints, network upgrades, and interconnection costs.
• Negotiate and administer interconnection agreements with support from legal counsel; track milestones and obligations.
• Support regulatory engagement by monitoring PREB proceedings and tariff filings.
