Job summary

AKS Engineering & Forestry is seeking an Interconnection & Transmission Regulatory Manager to lead interconnection strategy and regulatory engagement for utility-scale solar and battery energy storage systems in Puerto Rico. The role requires fluency in Spanish and English, a strong background in power systems, and experience navigating interconnection processes with utilities and regulators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related technical field.
• Experience in electric utility interconnection, transmission planning, or energy regulatory affairs.
• Hands-on interconnection experience with solar or storage projects is preferred.
• Fluency in Spanish and English for stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead interconnection strategy across a portfolio of utility-scale solar and BESS projects.
• Manage utility relationships with LUMA Energy, PREPA, and other stakeholders.
• Review interconnection studies for technical accuracy and cost reasonableness.
• Coordinate transmission planning and assess network upgrades and costs.
• Negotiate and manage interconnection agreements with legal support.
• Support regulatory engagement with PREB proceedings and tariff filings.
• Coordinate with utilities, EPCs, and engineering consultants on grid interconnection requirements.
• Provide early-stage interconnection assessments and cost estimates.
