Job summary

AKS is seeking an Interconnection & Transmission Regulatory Manager to support a growing portfolio of utility-scale solar and BESS projects in Puerto Rico. This role will lead interconnection strategy, transmission planning coordination, and regulatory engagement with utilities, regulators, engineering teams, and project stakeholders.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on interconnection experience, strong stakeholder management skills, and fluency in both Spanish and English.

Qualifications

• Fluent in both Spanish and English and able to lead technical discussions with diverse stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related technical field.
• 7+ years of experience in electric utility interconnection, transmission planning, power systems engineering, or energy regulatory affairs.
• Hands-on interconnection experience for utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage systems.
• Strong understanding of power systems fundamentals including power flow, short-circuit analysis, and protection and control.
• Experience reviewing interconnection studies and managing interconnection agreements.
• Experience coordinating across utilities, engineering consultants, EPC contractors, legal counsel, and project development teams.
• Ability to translate complex technical findings into practical recommendations for leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead interconnection strategy across a portfolio of utility-scale solar and BESS projects.
• Manage utility relationships with LUMA Energy, PREPA, and other stakeholders.
• Review scoping, system, and facilities studies for technical accuracy and cost reasonableness.
• Coordinate transmission planning and assess network upgrades and interconnection costs.
• Manage interconnection agreements with support from legal counsel.
• Support regulatory engagement with PREB proceedings and tariff filings.
• Coordinate with utilities, EPC contractors, and engineering consultants on protection, metering, SCADA, and telemetry requirements.
• Provide early-stage interconnection assessments and upgrade cost estimates.
• Maintain interconnection trackers and report milestones to leadership.
• Collaborate with development, engineering, construction, legal, and finance teams.
