Job summary

Aurora Health Care seeks a senior/lead Professional and Hospital Coder to support accurate and compliant coding practices across enterprise systems. You will research regulatory requirements, develop guidance, and coordinate coding quality audits to improve documentation and revenue integrity.

The role requires AHIMA or AAPC credentials, 5+ years of expert coding experience, and strong analytical/communication skills. Remote-ready with travel as needed within the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent education and experience required.
• AHIMA or AAPC credentials (RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CCS-P/CPC) required.

Responsibilities

• Research, interpret, and apply coding, payer, and regulatory requirements for accurate professional and hospital coding.
• Develop and maintain coding guidance, standard work, and reference materials for enterprise consistency.
• Coordinate and support coding quality audits, track findings, and oversee documentation accuracy.
• Analyze coding quality data and audit results to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
• Prepare reports for leadership, audit reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with Integrity Operations, coding leadership, clinicians, and education teams to enhance documentation.
