Job summary

Aurora Health Care is seeking a senior professional coder educator to lead proactive coding education and onboarding programs in a remote-enabled environment. You will ensure documentation accuracy and compliance for physicians, APPs, residents, and students, while partnering with multidisciplinary teams.

Your role emphasizes Epic proficiency, reference to AHIMA/AAPC standards, and continuous process improvement to support accurate reimbursement.

Qualifications

In-depth coding knowledge across ICD/CPT/HCPCS and payer rules.
Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
Experience with Epic and reporting solutions to analyze data and improve workflows.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities with attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication for education and collaboration.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic coding applications.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Display independent judgment and take initiative for process improvements.
Collaborate effectively with clinicians, leadership, and coding teams.

Responsibilities

Deliver proactive coding education through newsletters, scorecards, and presentations.
Lead onboarding and compliance training for Physicians/APPs, including residents and students.
Provide individualized feedback by reviewing clinician records and performing spot checks.
Serve as the primary contact for coding inquiries and coordinate complex issue resolution.
Monitor Epic work queues to ensure timely charge submissions and reduce denials.
