Job summary

UnitedHealth Group seeks a remote Professional Medical Coder with 3+ years in a multi-specialty clinic and AHIMA/AAPC credentials. You will guide coding questions, support education, and lead provider audits to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Responsibilities include training on new services, collaboration with denials and edits teams, and delivering targeted audits and feedback. Strong Excel and Epic proficiency required; telecommuter policy applies.

Qualifications

• AHIMA and/or AAPC credentialing (CPC, CCS-P, RHIA, RHIT) to be maintained annually.
• 3+ years of Physician medical coding experience in a multi-specialty physician clinic.
• 2+ years of Residency Program experience with surgical coding in E/M plus specified specialities.
• 2+ years of providing expert coding guidance to physicians and coders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison between coding teams and providers, delivering guidance to resolve inquiries.
• Collaborate with Edits and Denials teams to analyze trends and implement educational initiatives or system edits.
• Partner with clinical leadership during new service introductions to ensure accurate documentation and coding compliance.
• Deliver comprehensive coding and documentation training for newly onboarded providers.
• Conduct annual provider audits to validate charges and supporting documentation.
