• Examines the complete medical record to determine principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Accurately sequences diagnoses and procedures with high accuracy.
• Strives to obtain optimal DRG assignments for coded records.
• Maintains consistent productivity and quality.
• Holds accounts when more information is needed for accurate coding; contacts staff as needed.
• Keeps coding literature current and shares updates with colleagues.
• Completes assignments as directed by management.
• Pursues continuing education in coding.
• Works as a team member to meet department and client goals.
• Performs related duties or special projects as assigned.
