Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Health Information Technology (or eligible) or Bachelors degree in Health Information Management.
• RHIA/RHIT or CCS certification required (new graduates eligible to sit the exam).
• Previous hospital coding experience desirable; encoder software experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient clinical documentation, procedures, and results to assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes.
• Apply Official Coding Guidelines, CMS regulations, and coding standards.
• Maintain quality and productivity standards; stay updated on ICD-10 coding principles and payer requirements.
• Collaborate with providers and departments to standardize coding and reporting, often in a home-based setting.
