Job summary

South Texas Health System is seeking an experienced inpatient coder to ensure DRG accuracy and timely coding across IP records. The role leverages ICD-10-CM/PCS and the 3M Encoder to classify medical records with precision.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of inpatient coding experience, AHIMA or AAPC certification, and the ability to work remotely with a secure home workspace. A strong understanding of medical terminology and coding guidelines is essential.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of inpatient coding experience.
• Advanced training in ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and APC.
• Medical terminology, anatomy and physiology required.
• Must have computer skills.
• Ability to read medical reports and abstract pertinent information.
• Ability to work remotely with high speed internet and private workspace.
• Adherence to Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient records including DRG assignment and validation.
• Maintain relationships with Coding Manager/Supervisor, CDI team, and Case Management.
• Utilize 3M Encoder to classify records per ICD-10-CM/PCS.
• Ensure timeliness and accuracy of coding.
