Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a professional coder specialized in inpatient DRG coding to support hospital facilities across the United States. You will encode ICD-10-CM/PCS data, perform chart reviews, and ensure adherence to official coding guidelines and AHIMA/AAPC standards.

The role requires 3 years of DRG experience in acute care, strong Excel skills, and the ability to work remotely from anywhere in the U.S. Flexibility for overtime and weekend shifts may apply to business needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED (or higher).
• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC (CCA, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC-H/COC, CIC, CCS-P, CPC) to be maintained annually.
• 3 years of inpatient DRG coding experience in an acute care facility.
• 3 years of ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS and DRG coding using an encoder.
• Proficient in Windows Excel and various EMR systems.
• Ability to flex and float across multiple facilities as directed.

Responsibilities

• Identify appropriate assignment of ICD-10 CM, ICD-10-PCS, DRG, and abstraction for facility services following official guidelines.
• Expert knowledge in Inpatient DRG Coding.
• Abstract additional data elements during chart review when coding.
• Maintain coding quality and productivity per guidelines.
• Query physicians when appropriate.
• Stay updated on coding knowledge via QM Manager and Directors.
