Job summary

BayCare is seeking an Advanced Inpatient Coding Specialist who excels in medical coding and thrives in a remote, patient-centered environment. Responsibilities include analyzing complex inpatient documentation, coding with ICD-10-CM/PCS, and collaborating with Clinical Documentation and Quality teams to ensure accurate MSDRG assignments and PSI/HAC reviews.

Requirements include CCS certification, 5 years acute care, 3 years inpatient coding, and preference for RHIT.

Qualifications

• CCS certification is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• RHIT is preferred in addition to CCS.
• 5 years Acute Care experience.
• 3 years Inpatient Coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Analyze multi-day, multi-specialty inpatient documentation to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes.
• Collaborate with clinical staff for accurate diagnoses and code assignments.
• Formulate physician queries and monitor bill hold reports.
• Serve as liaison to Clinical Documentation and Quality teams for MSDRG assignments and PSI/HAC reviews.
• Mentor junior coders and students when needed.
