Job summary

BayCare is seeking an Advanced Inpatient Coding Specialist to work remotely from within the US. The role requires CCS certification, 5 years of acute care experience, and 3 years inpatient coding experience, with mentoring responsibilities for junior coders and students.

Responsibilities include analyzing complex inpatient records, assigning ICD-10-CM/PCS codes, and collaborating with Clinical Documentation and Quality teams to ensure accurate MSDRG assignments.

Qualifications

• Requires CCS certification.
• RHIT preferred in addition to CCS.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 5 years Acute Care experience.
• Minimum 3 years Inpatient Coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Analyze multi-day, multi-specialty inpatient documentation to assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes.
• Collaborate with medical staff for accurate diagnoses such as malnutrition and sepsis.
• Create physician queries and monitor hold reports; liaise with Clinical Documentation and Quality teams.
• Utilize anatomy, pathophysiology, and pharmacology knowledge for accurate coding.
• Mentor/train Coder I/II/III and clinical practice students.
