Qualifications

• CCS certification is required.
• RHIT is preferred in addition to CCS.
• 5 years of Acute Care experience.
• 3 years of Inpatient Coding.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in Health Information Technology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyses multi-day, multi-specialty inpatient documentation to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes.
• Collaborates with medical staff for accurate diagnoses such as malnutrition and sepsis.
• Formulates physician queries and monitors bill hold reports.
• Serves as liaison to Clinical Documentation and Quality teams for ICD-10 inpatient codes and MSDRGs.
• Mentors Coders and students in coding practices.
