OHSU is seeking an experienced Inpatient Coder to support the Enterprise Coding Department. The role emphasizes accurate ICD-10 coding, chart abstraction, and CDI collaboration in a remote setting.

Ideal candidates will hold AHIMA credentials, have 4+ years in inpatient coding, and stay current with CMS and Oregon regulations. This position requires strong communication and teamwork within a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 4+ years of professional or hospital experience in reviewing, abstracting, coding in ICD-10-CM/PCS or CPT.
• AHIMA certification (RHIA/RHIT/CCS) required; AHIMA membership active.
• Knowledge of inpatient coding guidelines (ICD-10-CM/PCS) and coding accuracy expectations.

Responsibilities

• Achieve inpatient coding accuracy of 95% or higher.
• Abstract information from inpatient records to assign correct codes per ICD-10.
• Identify and communicate query opportunities to clinicians.
• Verify key data in Epic and assign codes via 3M 360.
• Collaborate with coding leads and billing on denials and questions.
• Ensure coding activities comply with CMS and state regulations.
