Job summary

Datavant is seeking an experienced inpatient coder to join our remote team. You will assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes, abstract records, and maintain high coding accuracy while supporting documentation improvements.

Requirements include 3+ years inpatient coding experience; CCS, RHIT, or RHIA preferred; and strong verbal and written communication skills. This fully remote, flexible role offers hourly pay from $32 to $42.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of inpatient coding facility experience
• CCS, RHIT, or RHIA preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Assign diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes
• Accurately sequence and abstract medical codes from patient records, ensuring precision and adherence to documentation
• Oversee and audit the work of Level 1 & 2 Coders, where applicable
• Champion documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues, facilitating resolution with relevant stakeholders
• Uphold an overall 95% coding accuracy rate and a 95% accuracy rate for MS-DRG assignments
• Maintain site-specific productivity benchmarks
• Foster professional communication with colleagues, management, and hospital staff, while addressing clinical and reimbursement issues
