Job summary

Datavant is seeking experienced inpatient coders for a fully remote role. The candidate will assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes, abstract from patient records, and supervise junior coders when applicable.

A focus on accuracy and productivity is essential, with a drive to improve documentation quality across the organization. Ideal applicants have 3+ years inpatient coding experience and certifications such as CCS/RHIT/RHIA.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of recent inpatient coding facility experience.
• CCS, RHIT, or RHIA preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assign diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS.
• Sequence and abstract codes from patient records with precision.
• Oversee and audit the work of Level 1 & 2 Coders where applicable.
• Champion documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues with stakeholders.
• Maintain 95% coding accuracy and 95% MS-DRG accuracy.
• Maintain site-specific productivity benchmarks.
• Communicate with colleagues, management, and hospital staff about clinical and reimbursement issues.
