Job summary

CommonSpirit Health seeks an Inpatient Coder II to code and abstract inpatient records for data retrieval, reimbursement and research. You will code using the 3M encoder, navigate the EMR, and meet quality and productivity standards across facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
• Current AHIMA credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P) or AAPC credentials (COC, CIC, CPC-H, CPC), required or must be certified within one year of hire.
• Inpatient coding experience with DRG assignment; knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, HCPCS.
• Proficiency with 3M encoder and ability to navigate an EMR.

Responsibilities

• Code and abstracts inpatient records for data retrieval, reimbursement and research.
• Enter diagnostic and procedure codes into the designated coding system using the 3M encoder as appropriate.
• Meet quality and productivity coding standards and demonstrate the ability to navigate an EMR.
• Code across all facilities.
