Job summary

DaMar Staffing seeks an Inpatient Coder II to code and abstract complex inpatient records, supporting accurate reimbursement, data retrieval, and research objectives in a fast-paced environment. You will use 3M encoder within our EMR, assign DRGs, and ensure codes across all inpatient service lines meet strict quality and productivity standards.

Candidates should have AHIMA or AAPC credentials, a minimum of four years inpatient coding experience (or two years with strong credentials), and

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• AHIMA credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P) or AAPC credentials (COC, CIC, CPC-H, CPC) required or must be certified within one year.
• Minimum of four (4) years inpatient coding experience in acute care OR minimum of two (2) years’ experience.
• Competency in inpatient coding guidelines and DRG assignment.
• Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, HCPCS and Coding Modifiers.
• Knowledge of disease management, anatomy/physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology and coding systems (3M).

Responsibilities

• Accurately assigns codes from inpatient coding systems and creates DRG assignments per guidelines and compliance plans.
• Codes all high dollar accounts (> $100K) including interim and rehab accounts.
• Abstracts pertinent information from inpatient records into the system and uses reports/work queues for follow-up.
• Codes all service lines of inpatient accounts.
• Meets quality and productivity standards.
• Demonstrates proficiency with coding/abstracting systems, 3M encoder, online resources, and EMR.
