Job summary

Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY seeks an Inpatient Hospital Coder to select ICD-10-CM/PCS codes and related codes to optimize reimbursement while upholding ethical standards. This fully remote role requires coding certification and experience with inpatient coding systems.

The ideal candidate will have AHIMA or AAPC credentials, experience with 3M 360 and EPIC, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting, maintaining data confidentiality and quality.

Qualifications

• Must have a coding certification (AHIMA or AAPC) in good standing.
• Experience with ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding, preferably inpatient.
• Familiarity with 3M 360 and EPIC preferred; strong ethical coding practices required.

Responsibilities

• Use computerized encoding to facilitate accurate coding.
• Sequence diagnoses and procedures per ICD-10-CM/PCS guidelines.
• Support external reporting and data quality initiatives with accurate codes.
• Query providers when documentation is incomplete or ambiguous.
• Advance coding knowledge through continuing education.
• Maintain integrity and comply with coding policies and regulations.
• Apply official coding rules to represent patient services on claims.
• Attend coding meetings and team huddles; participate in LEAN activities.
• Work remotely with focus and confidentiality; manage shared drives as needed.
