Qualifications

• Must have current coding certification through AHIMA or AAPC in good standing.
• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in hospital medical coding preferred.
• Familiarity with ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS or CPT-4 coding systems.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote position.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with multiple computer systems and troubleshooting.
• Eligibility to pass assessment with 80% or higher.

Responsibilities

• Use encoding system to sequence diagnoses and procedures per ICD-10-CM/PCS.
• Ensure accurate hospital data for reimbursement and reporting.
• Query providers when documentation is incomplete or conflicting.
• Maintain ethical coding practices and adhere to policies.
• Participate in meetings and remote collaboration.
• Protect patient information and work in a secure remote setup.
