Job summary

Cedars Sinai is hiring a Hospital Inpatient Coder to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes by reviewing medical documentation and applying coding guidelines. The role requires DRG sequencing expertise and knowledge of MS-DRG and APR-DRG, with attention to SDOH and PSI.

You will work with the CDI team to ensure complete coding profiles across EPIC and Solventum systems. You will abstract required data, resolve edits, and seek documentation improvements while collaborating with clinicians to ensure accuracy

Qualifications

• 3 years’ healthcare coding experience with ICD-10-CM/PCS.
• Certification as RHIT, RHIA, CPC, CCS, or CCS-P on hire.
• Proficiency with coding systems and documentation standards.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes per guidelines after reviewing documentation.
• Identify principal diagnosis, comorbidities, and sequencing for DRG.
• Abstract data elements for reporting in EPIC, Solventum, and related systems.
• Apply MS-DRG and APR-DRG knowledge; consider SDOH, HCC, and PSI.
• Resolve inpatient edits/alerts with accuracy; escalate when needed.
• Collaborate with CDI team to align clinical and coding approaches.
• Identify opportunities for documentation improvement and query physicians.
