Job summary

Cedars Sinai is seeking a Hospital Inpatient Coder to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes across inpatient stays, ensuring accurate DRG determinations and compliance with guidelines. This role involves reviewing documentation, abstracting data for reporting, and collaborating with the CDI team.

The position requires a minimum of 3 years in healthcare coding, with relevant certifications to be obtained upon hire, and experience with systems like EPIC and related coding tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience performing hospital code assignment.
• Upon hire, professional coding certifications (RHIT/RHIA/CPC/CCS/CCSP) required.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes per standard guidelines.
• Identify principal diagnosis, comorbidities, and determine DRG sequencing.
• Abstract data for reporting into EPIC and related systems (EPIC CS-Link, HB, PB).
• Collaborate with CDI team to ensure complete and accurate coding.
