Job summary

Cedars Sinai is seeking a Hospital Inpatient Coder to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes by reviewing documentation, determine principal diagnoses, and sequence codes for optimal DRG representation. The role requires collaborating with the CDI team and proficient data abstraction in EPIC and Solventum systems.

Candidates should have at least 3 years in healthcare coding, with certification on hire, and experience navigating MS-DRG/APR-DRG concepts to support accurate hospital statistics and reporting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ work experience in healthcare coding.
• Certification required upon hire (RHIT/RHIA/ CPC/ CCS/CCSP).
• Experience with ICD-10-CM/PCS coding guidelines and DRG assignment.

Responsibilities

• Review documentation and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes.
• Identify principal diagnosis and DRG sequencing for inpatient stays.
• Abstract data elements for reporting into hospital systems (EPIC, Solventum, etc.).
• Collaborate with CDI team to ensure complete coding profiles.
• Mentor on advanced coding concepts and manage complex edits.
