Job summary

Datavant is seeking experienced inpatient coders for a fully remote role. You will assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes, sequence and abstract patient records, and contribute to maintaining a 95% coding and MS-DRG accuracy rate.

The position requires a minimum of 3 years of inpatient coding experience with CCS/RHIT/RHIA preferred. AHIMA/AAPC credentials are encouraged, and we offer comprehensive benefits and remote work flexibility.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of inpatient coding experience in a facility.
• CCS, RHIT, or RHIA certification preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assign diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes
• Accurately sequence and abstract medical codes from patient records, ensuring precision and adherence to documentation
• Oversee and audit the work of Level 1 & 2 Coders, where applicable
• Champion documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues, facilitating resolution with relevant stakeholders
• Uphold an overall 95% coding accuracy rate and a 95% accuracy rate for MS-DRG assignments
• Maintain site-specific productivity benchmarks
• Foster professional communication with colleagues, management, and hospital staff, while addressing clinical and reimbursement issues
