Cognizant is seeking an Inpatient Coder (CCS) to work remotely from home. The role requires 3+ years of facility-based inpatient coding with ICD-10-CM/PCS, plus Level 1 trauma coding and Epic experience.

You will review medical records, query physicians, and ensure high accuracy while meeting productivity targets in a remote environment. The position offers compensation $63,000–$71,000 annually, with eligibility for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of facility-based inpatient coding experience (ICD-10-CM/PCS).
• Level 1 Trauma coding experience.
• Epic experience.
• Active CCS, RHIT, RHIA, CPC, or CIC credential.
• Ability to code accurately and meet productivity standards.

Responsibilities

• Review documentation to code diagnoses (ICD-10-CM) and procedures (ICD-10-PCS).
• Query physicians to clarify diagnoses/procedures.
• Assign codes using encoder per policy and regulatory guidelines.
• Perform peer reviews of coding auditors.
• Complete reports as requested.
• Maintain a minimum accuracy rate of 98%.
• Meet inpatient productivity: 16 encounters/day, 2/hour, 30 minutes per encounter.
• Work across multiple systems simultaneously.
• Coordinate with manager on time off and new client procedures.
