Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced Inpatient Coder (CCS certified) to support one or more clients in a remote, home-based role. You will review medical documentation, assign ICD-10-CM diagnoses and ICD-10-PCS procedures, and query physicians to ensure accurate coding while meeting quality and productivity standards.

The role requires facility-based inpatient coding experience, Level 1 Trauma experience, Epic proficiency, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of facility-based inpatient coding experience (ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, MS-DRG).
• Ability to query physicians for documentation when needed.
• Proficiency with encoder applications and multiple systems.

Responsibilities

• Review documentation to code diagnoses (ICD-10-CM) and procedures (ICD-10-PCS).
• Communicate with physicians to obtain or clarify diagnoses and/or procedures via query process.
• Assign accurate codes using encoder applications in line with policies and regulations.
• Perform peer reviews of coding auditors and coders.
