Job summary

Pena4 Inc. is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote role. The candidate will handle inpatient and outpatient coding with ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS, CPT, and related coding references, ensuring accurate codes and DRG assignments.

Required at least 5 years IP PCS coding experience and CCS certification. Test-based assessments may be used for screening, with a weekday, full-time schedule and regular daytime shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of IP PCS coding experience.
• CCS certification is required.
• Experience with inpatient and outpatient coding.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT.

Responsibilities

• Examines the complete medical record to determine principal and secondary diagnoses, procedures, and complications.
• Accurately sequences diagnoses and procedures, maintaining 95% accuracy.
• Strives for optimal DRG assignments on coded records with computer assistance.
• Maintains consistent productivity and quality levels.
• Holds accounts when more information is needed for accurate coding; escalates as required.
• Reviews coding literature to stay current with guidelines and shares findings.
• Completes assignments as directed with reliability and diligence.
• Shows interest in continuing education and professional development.
• Works as a team member to meet department and client goals.
• Performs related duties or special projects as assigned.
